A crude lift of the 2005 Hollywood thriller Hard Candy, Chuda Chuda is your worst on-screennightmare, nothing more nothing less. Tackling a subject as serious as rape, especially one that involves schoolgirls, needs sensitivity and that is totally lacking in Idhayan’s work. Forget the bad acting and the writing, the presentation here is so tacky that it makes the issues seem a joke.
Exploitation films have addressed touchy issues through on-screen violence and sex but this is blatant and tactless exploitation all in the name of creating awareness. An image as sickening as a grown man sniffing over a young girl’s body is presented with such crassness that it doesn’t even address the paedophilia in his deed. The violence too isn’t squirm-inducing but merely gratuitous.
