Eppadi Manasukkul Vandhai Movie Online Review

Director PV Prasath after tasting success with his first film Kadhalil Vizhunthein (thanks to Nakka Mukka song) has come up with another psychotic thriller. The storyline is unbelievable yarn with lot of loopholes in the plot and narration, but the making is slick.
The films packaging is what catches our eye with great camera work, rich locations and hummable tunes but sadly lacks a cohesive script and drags big time especially the long drawn out climax.

The story has been written probably on the sets to weave in essential ingredients and to make the stalker hero look smart and daring. A washer man’s son Seenu (Vishwa), coming from a very poor economic background first stalks and then falls in love with a rich textile mill owner’s daughter Mithra ( Tanvi Vyas) and somehow manages to join the same college. He also manages his way into her rich friend’s circle.

Sham ( Irfan) is Mithra’s childhood friend and the duo are staying together in the same house ( !) in the city to study there, as their families know each other very well. When Sham discovers that Seenu is not just a friend but has fallen for Mithra, he threatens to reveal all to the unsuspecting Mithra.

The hero is shown as a stalker then it is love at first sight and as the film progresses it becomes obsessive love. The songs are woven into the plot to justify the usual love at first sight syndrome as the hero is moved by heroine’s gentle attitude and friendly nature.

There are several questions that crop up in your head as you watch the film. For instance, why are Seenu’s and Tanvi’s parents never shown, showing any concern about their children and the growing friendship between their kids, especially with such diverse economic backgrounds? More so, when Seenu even lives with the girl in the same house! The character of Mithra is quite one dimensional and she seems to believe everything anyone tells her quite easily, which is reflected in the ending of the story.

The director has also been influenced by early Selvaraghavan films. The heroine an upmarket girl studying in a prestigious fashion design school falling for gutter level stalker who is obsessed by her and dancing to his tunes is what makes the film unbeleivable.

The only saving grace of the film is Vijay Milton’s camerawork. One last question- How could the hero escape after killing a cop in a mall and lead a peaceful romantic life with his lady love?
Verdict – Below Average
