‘Every film today is mired in controversies’

Her film career has been marred by controversies, but Kajal Aggarwal is unperturbed. She gets chatting to CT about her movies, sister Nisha and more…

Thuppaki is mired in controversy over the title and posters…
According to me, every film today is mired in controversies. Eventually, the controversies surrounding Vijay holding a cigar in the poster and the title will die and the audience will appreciate the movie and the effort that has gone into its making.

There was a buzz in Kollywood that your commitments in other industries are delaying your Tamil projects…
I have been shooting back-to-back for my films, but I have completed all my films on schedule.

How has your Bollywood flick Special Chabbis shaped up?
The fact that I am the only female character in the film, made the role very different. I really admired Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday. When I read the script, I knew I wanted to do this film.

There are rumours you’re working with Shahid Kapur and Neil Nitin Mukesh and that you are doing Singham Part 2…
I haven’t signed any films opposite them. In fact, Special Chabbis is the only film in Bollywood that I have signed post Singham. I have six movies lined up in the south and have been busy shooting for them. As for Singham 2, I don’t want to comment about it at the moment.

Your sister Nisha’s career seems to be rather slow …
I always believe that you must do a film that inspires and excites you and I am glad Nisha is doing the same. She has done a few films, but movies that she believes in.

I think our film industry is huge and just because an actress is from the south doesn’t mean she is competition. I hope they all do well in Bollywood too.

You had said that you would never kiss on-screen and never wear a bikini…
At the risk of sounding cliched, it really depends on the script and the role. If my role in a movie is glamorous, then I wouldn’t mind dressing the part. There is a thin line between glamour and vulgarity and I would never want to cross that.
