Gaantham Movie Online – Review

Story : It is love at first sight for Gautam (Tej) when he sees Nisha (Rashmi). To profess his love for her, he joins hands with his brother-in-law Rajesh (Pandiarajan), who coaches Nisha’s football team.

Movie Review: ” Gaantham” borrows ideas from movies such as “She’s the Man” (2006, English) and “Chak De! India” (2007, Hindi). In the first, football and romance are intertwined very well, while in the second, the story of those involved in a women’s hockey team is told grippingly. But poor handling of the subject and the slow pace make “Gaantham” a badly-made movie.

The hero’s introduction fight, followed by a song leaves one restless right at the beginning. The first half is used to establish Gautam’s love for Nisha. Later, it turns a football flick. Among an avoidable list of tracks (composed by Prathap) is a Tamil-worded ‘Waving Flag’, originally sung by K’naan, which took the airwaves by a storm around the 2010 Football World Cup. Pandiarajan is wasted with his attempts at being funny falling flat. The rest of the cast don’t entertain either. Editor Viswa does a bad job, unnecessarily prolonging scenes and making the audience cringe.

At the end, “Gaantham” only makes for a good example of bad storytelling.
