Synopsis: Sandeep ( Sandeep) is a good-hearted young man in his village who helps everyone and foils every plan of his arch rival. His relative ( Lavanya) is married to a decent chap from neighbouring Poovampatti and faces problems because of her inability to conceive a child. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a girl ( Sri Shalini) from this village…
Movie Review: When many filmmakers are experimenting with form and content and coming up with films that are a shot in the arm for Tamil cinema, director Pudugai Marisa seems to be caught in a time warp and never displays any sort of ambition.
The storyline of Poovampatti is straight out of the 80s and the presentation feels dated even for that era. The acting is pathetic, the music indifferent, the cinematography pedestrian and the direction clumsy. The film is so bad that even soaps on TV seem better. If there is one thing that can be said in its favour, it is its lack of pretence.
Poovampatti belongs in the league of movies that are so hopeless and make for such soft targets that even ripping them apart will feel pointless.
