The name Rahman is almost synonymous with honours, as awards and accolades faithfully follow the music maestro wherever he goes. Recently, he was honoured in Mumbai for completing two decades in the industry.
In the presence of popular singers singers like Alka Yagnik, Hariharan, Udit Narayan, Naresh Iyer, Mohit Chauhan, Chitra and Sonu Niigam, Rahman was felicitated by veteran Yash Chopra, at the Sixth Annual Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA).
Not just that, some of Rahman’s evergreen songs like ‘Dil Hai Chota Sa…’, ‘Chanda Re Chande Re….’, and ‘Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali…’, were played on stage.
In his acceptance address, Rahman said he was overhelmed by the honour and he did not expect it. “I had a hint about the tribute but I did not realise that it will create such huge nostalgia. I am truly touched,” he said.
