Shriya’s sword tales

Google+

Being a princess is not an easy job. And Shriya, who plays just that in her forthcoming Tamil-Kannada bilingual Chandra, will vouch for the same. The actress had to perform a Kalari fight sequence for the film, and says wielding the sword is a very difficult task!

She wrote on her micro-blogging page, “Shot for a Kalari (fight sequence) at a beautiful temple, bare foot! Those swords are heavy and painful. I wonder how those fighters won battles and conquered kingdoms!”

Director Roopa elaborates, “We shot the sequence near a monument in Nandi Gram in Bangalore for over two days. This scene comes at a juncture when Shriya, who plays a princess, signals Prem, a master in Kalaripayattu, for a duel. It’s more romantic than aggressive, and the two actors have done a great job.”
