Yugam Movie Online Review

Synopsis: Shiva (Rahul) and Pooja ( Deepti) are newly-weds, who are deeply in love with each other. One day, Pooja receives an anonymous call from which she learns that Shiva is planning to murder her that midnight. Even as she tries to flee, Shiva returns from office…

Movie Review: Trying to build a thriller around mistrust between a couple is quite fine if you have a script full of nail-biting scenes that bring viewers to the edge of their seats. But all thatYugam has is scenes stretched infinitely in the name of suspense, amateurish direction and what should probably rank as the world’s lengthiest comedy track (featuring Super Good Lakshman and co) that is not funny even for a moment. And, beware, it involves flashbacks within flashback and is 20 minutes long!

That he has to include extended clips from Aasai and Sigappu Rojakkal to tell us what he is going for only shows that director Pavanshekar lacks the craft needed to make a film, let alone a tense thriller. The film is full of badly-staged scenes that are further made insufferable by the overpowering background score, poor cinematography (that gives it the feel of a dated TV serial) and a climax that is perhaps the film’s one and only — and unintended — joke.
